Tiffany's Scrapbook/Off to School

I just came in from the barn, where I finished getting Tiffany groomed and ready for tomorrow's trip to her first stay with a trainer. Wow--our home-raised baby's last night at home!

I bred Tiffany, who's now 2 1/2, and have raised her since she was born on our place in 2007. For fun, here are a few shots, from older to younger, from her Idaho-days scrapbook.

Tiffany, who has the greying gene, was born a shade of chocolate, and her first greyed coat, as a foal, was almost lavender. Her sire, Absolute Option, is sorrel, so I expected her to end up as a rose grey. But as her next haircoat came in, as a late weanling, she dropped the reddish grey for a black-pointed blue base. She is now yet another eye-striking color, very silvery-blue with her still-black mane and tail.

What a cutie!! Grays are so unpredictable, but I think she has turned out beautiful. I love her baby picture. How cute! I hope Chrome goes through pretty stages and doesn't go straight flea bitten or something. *fingers crossed*

Just a guess, but from her black points and blue/black base, I would think that genetically she is a black--before the gray gene speaks it's piece. Pretty girl!

Gussie would be proud, Juli. Beau says don't worry, he has a similar early history, and look how cool he turned out!

She is gorgeous! Built right and that beautiful color. That's my favorite!! Hard to let them go though... are you going to show her when she's ready to go?

It's too early to tell if she will have any show talent or not. It's even too early to tell whether she will have enough talent to get past the 30-day-evaluation point. (Sometimes, they flunk out and get sent home!)

I'll keep everyone posted from time to time. Meanwhile, we are on the road with the filly now, going up the Columbia Gorge toward Portland.

You're in luck...the weather is beautiful...great driving conditions. Good luck to Tiffany at school...she should be a "star" pupil, Juli.

Just dropped her off with Tom, so we'll now have to see what happens from here.

Wow, lots of memories from that place, going all the way back to when Major Bonanza lived in the first stall and was king of the place he built.

She sure is pretty. I would not mind having her, for sure. I love greys-blue-grays-kinda glad she left the red behind. Horse color can be so funny, sometimes.

She's lovely. You never know, she may end up totally white. My Jaz was born jet black.

Hope she's a shining star at the trainers!

This filly's dam was completely white by the time she was four. That may be because she apparently had two copies of the graying gene--both parents were gray, and all 12 of her foals are gray, even though she was never bred to a gray stallion.

I like all the shades of gray, even white, so whatever and whenever is OK with me!
