"School Pictures" of the Other Horse Kids
Remember "school pictures day" from back when you were a kid? When your mom got you all dressed up so you could get your picture taken?
That's kind of what happened this past weekend, when Ed and I managed to get pictures taken of Riley and Tiffany--the two horses we have left at the ranch of our own after the deaths of Tank and Miss Rose.
Both are Quarter Horses. Riley is a 6-year-old sorrel gelding that we have owned since he was about 4 months old. Tiffany is a 2-year-old gray filly that we bred and raised.
"Meet the kids," says their horse mom! They will be Smitty's big brother and sister when he gets here later this summer.
Photos are by Jim Bortvedt, who's been shooting my horses (and other parts of my personal and professional life) for over 20 years. Thanks, Jim!

I didn't know Miss Rose had died, sorry to hear that! Glad she could spend her last days at your place though
(sigh) I miss Jim... We must have been connected this weekend. I caught myself reminiscing about photo shoots often this weekend for some reason, and analyzing angles I could use here on the farm for photos if Jim magically showed up, camera in hand.... ;-)
Tiff looks SENSATIONAL, Juli. I see so much of her mom in her...
They both look great, and Smitty will be in good company.
Did anyone notice that Riley has no mane?
I needed to do a how-to for Horse & Rider, on the process of roaching a mane. So I made Riley be the volunteer to have his taken off.
There is still a pile of long flaxen strands lying out in the yard--as I still have some post-photo-shoot cleanup left to do.
Kind of a sad-looking pile...but, we have the photos needed, safely "in the can," and so it goes in Mag-Land.
They look fantastic!! I love doing horse makeover days :) Tiffany, you can send her down this way :) Anytime :)
A couple of lovely photos of Riley and Tiffany. Thanks for sharing.
