How Smitty Is Coming Along So Far

Here's a little look at how Smitty, the '09 Appaloosa I'm buying, is coming along in development.

One photo is at 10 days, and the other one is at five weeks.

He's begun to shed the baby fur around his eyes and muzzle, and the new hair is dark chestnut, like that of the dam.

I still don't know exactly when I'll be able to meet Smitty in person. He's in North Dakota, while I'm in Idaho.

But if Contrast is mental vitamin C, then Anticipation is mental vitamin A--and we all know that the mental vitamins are good for you.

I LOVE the halo around the eye! That is fluffy butter cream icing on that adorable dish face. It's going to be totally fun decorating that head with the perfect show halter! Have you started shopping for such bling yet?

Nope, haven't shopped for any baby items yet...in fact, I just sold the entire baby wardrobe, show halter and all, last year. Even the beloved baby-sized Big D All American that a decade's worth of weanlings wore.

Looks like Smitty gets to start over new.

We are so blessed to have these wonderful animals in our lives!
Love the pictures of your new colt.
What a doll! We had Appaloosas when I was a kid. When I grew up I decided I likes long manes and tails LOL

How nice to know that lil' Smitty is getting approval stamps from you all.

Do any of you have a judge's card, by any chance?

:)

He's adorable. A sweet deer face with a cute spotted butt. I had a bay colt with spotted butt given to me when I was growing up; he roaned out later but man was he a cutie! Have fun with yours!

Dakota loves him! Being a red roan Appaloos herself, she has a wonderful eye about these things!
She thinks he is cute!!!!

We are planning for Dakota's 27th birthday, June 13th. After last summer's colic surgery and successful EPM treatment, we are planning a big party! Carrot cake, watermellon, apple and carrots - all her favorite things!
