Sneak Preview Time: May 09's Horse&Rider

Here's the cover of May's new Horse&Rider issue, ready for your perusal!

Although you and other readers will be the ultimate judges, I do have to say that I'm pretty excited about this issue.

For one thing, it contains stories that were produced and photographed on one of my H&R photo-shoot trips from last summer. So I know for real what you'll get to learn in Bob Avila's lead-changes article, for instance, because I was standing at Bob's arena rail as he demo'd for our camera.

I also had a ball touring the place where the Rancho Re-Do article was shot (it's Suzi Vliestra's place, from Hobby Horse Clothing Company!), and can tell you that the trail riding piece comes from a source you might find to be surprising--given that he's known best as a show-horse trainer.

(Any guesses who it is? I don't want to spill all the surprises.)

Looks good. I like the horse on the cover. The trail riding article got my attention, especially since my gelding is suddenly feeling better than I've EVER seen him (not bad, just young and really excited) and I had an interesting time on a trail ride a couple weeks ago. I firmly believe in trail riding, but it looks like I now need a place to get his energy out first - he wants to race again!

I'm interested in the trail riding article and the one about being crooked and having a bad side -- oh yeah.

The crooked/bad sided article definitely will be one of the first I read! lol
And showing on the cheap, very timely.

I received my copy yesterday and spent last night reading. The choke was especially interesting because our older horse experienced a choke about a month ago. We had changed from crimped steamed oats to regular oats. The issue is packed full of useful information. Thanks.

I received my issue a few days ago and have really enjoyed taking it out in the warm sunshine to read it on breaks from everyday stuff. I really enjoy the trail article.

The Choke article! Dakota Miss Jabber choked several weeks ago. Fortunately, she eats pelleted feed and in the 45 minutes it took for our beloved vet, Dr. Jim Doles of Mid-Rivers Equine to get here, the pellets had already started to disolve. The sound she made was what made us turn around and check on her.
