Found a Horse, Found the Owners
Whew, a case of all's well that ends well.
The owners of this morning's stray horse just picked her up after their call to the sheriff's office matched up with mine. She had escaped her pen, and gone across this area's mostly open country until she got as far as our place.
So after a little time tucked safely into our barn, she stepped nicely into their trailer for a ride back home.
Despite some evidence to the contrary, it usually does pay to do unto others as you would have them do for you.

Glad to hear that all's well that end's well.
WhooHoo! Glad she is home and OK there Juli!
Glad you found the owners, that is always a big relief!
Oh that's wonderful! I'm so glad she found her way home!
So glad to hear she is not an 'unwanted horse' and is reunited with her owners.
So glad to hear that it turned out well and that you were just a good samaritan.
I can understand why you would have been weary of opening your barn to a stray horse, but thank God you did.
Several years ago late one night I noticed the gate to the paddock was open and all three of my horses were missing! We don't know how the gate was opened since it had a latch and a chain with a snap around it and none of us had gone thru it?
I called the sheriff and remarked my horses might have been stolen! I trekked out on foot in the dark fearing the worse with lead ropes and halters in hand. I was sick to my stomach, dizzy, crying and had an adrenialin rush you wouldn't believe.
The Sheriff's cruiser with those bright search lights found them heading out to BLM land maybe a mile and half away where we often trail rode! I think it might have been the mustang's idea to go that way rather than go home?
With hard economic times there is more reported horse wrestling going on especially in states close to the borders where the slaughter houses are located. At least once a month I get an email from someone looking for a stolen horse. Many kill buyers don't ask for paper work.
Since this owner was a caring one, I'm sure she was thrilled that YOU picked up her horse and not one of the dispicable others I mentioned above.
