What Would the Neighbors Say...

...if one of these got set up in your yard?
This is my traveling cowgirl's bunkhouse (when she's not trapped behind an 8-foot snowdrift).
She's not real big, just 13 feet long from rear bumper to hitch ball, but she's still not exactly invisible when out of her winter storage space. (Too bad I don't have a picture of all the graphics on her other side. Must add to personal To-Do list....)
Anyway, while passing the time until winter loosen ups, I'm nursin' a notion to hook her up and do a little visitin'.
So let's say you'd be game for for being my personal RV park and equine outfitter.
How far is your zip code from mine of 83871? What would I see between here and there? What kind of horse fun could we have on an overnight/next day stopover?
I'm already having some fun, just daydreaming (again) about the possibilities.
And what WOULD the neighbors think? ( I don't have neighbors within eyeshot, so I'm a little fuzzy on the concept.)

zip.99224 & your welcome to "camp" on my 5 acres...anytime....bring the horses, you can ride all around here(wheat farms & pines) & we have "hook-ups" lol! no need to dry camp.
As for the neighbors, they know we are "unique" and won't complain...probably will want to take a peek into your trailer.
Spokane has a lot to see and there is some lovely riding areas too.
Heck, I'll even pull out "Gracie-girl" (who is under renovation) and camp with you...hmmm maybe you can drag M.J.B, along...her little trailer won't take up much space!
sister hugz,
>^..^<
85342 - on the way, visit Shiloh Horse Rescue, gamble in Vegas, all kinds of stuff to do. Dry riverbed to ride. Plenty of room to camp here, the neighbors wouldn't even bat an eye. You can spend a day or two with Sugarfoot, work a wild horse in the round pen. Pull out an old steady from the herd and ride out in amongst the saguaros.
Anything you want, it's yours! OH, and we can get your sister (on the fly) Bunny to come too. You could camp at her house too, park your trailer next to hers, same thing, she's got some old steady horses you can ride. Just enjoy yourself!! Write a great column of your adventures! Bring Ed too. I didn't realize till I read back that he'd had heart surgery. So glad he's still here and he looks so great, you'd never know you almost lost him.
Time to get out of the snow and come this way!!
You could always pack up and come over here, but bet you wanted a longer trip and to a warmer location. With less mud than I can offer too.
If it hadn't been for the fact that last Monday we couldn't even get out of town due to the big snow storm, William and I would have been in sunny southern California visiting horse ranches and the many natural sights, plus some very unnatural ones. And all this while helping friends put on a couple of weekends of horse shows. Dang snow.
I agree with you Juli, as soon as it's better weather, I get thru with a couple of important meetings and my mare foals, I'm outta here for a while. Sure seems like a long time to wait though.
What neighbors?
87036 is a mere 482 miles south of you. Not much to see along the way, but the weather does get warmer the farther south you go. And once you get here, you can ride Hank or Lyle, hug George and Alan, kiss Wynonna on the snout...just imagine all the fun!
And if I win the Pink Trailer raffle, your bunkhouse will have company, too.
I get over 1,300 miles to 87036.
You must know a really good shortcut!
68070 is 1,418 miles. You will go through most of Montana and come down thru the Black Hills. You will come thru the northern part of Nebraska & may catch of glimpse of the sandhills.
We have 25 acres -- plenty of room for your travel trailer. I'll camp next to you in my horse trailer! Pull on in!
I'm 1100 miles to the Denver, CO area. If you leave now you may catch the tail end of the National Western Stock Show!
I remember your posts from last year about your little trailer--it's very cute. Hope to hear more about your travels this year.
Just a little too late for the Horse Owners and Breeders Conference in Red Deer Alberta this past weekend. Fantastic speakers on all topics equine including Hilary Clayton on streching, Van Harding on saddle fit, Deworming resistance, Bowkar on hoof triming and the list goes on. While you were here you could have enjoyed the warm snap that took us from -40C a week ago to plus 4. My neighbors would think your great (their horse people too)! I think you might like to have a room in the house when the real Canadian winter comes back. You could ride a reiner or too and even have competed in the fun cutting series! Your always welcome and we could even talk about equine welfare related issues (day job). Cheers from the North! T4J 1R3 Ponoka, Alberta, Canada
L9W 2C5 puts me in southern Ontario. It might be warmer where you are! Lots of snow and raging storms this year and we are headed to minus 20 degrees this weekend! A Texas rancher I spoke with last week said it had recently been 70 degrees there. Perhaps we should all haul to TX to recover. Best wishes from Audrey in Orangeville, Ontario, CANADA
ANH--
I have been to the Horse Breeders and Owners Conference. In fact, I had the honor of being the keynote speaker a couple of years ago.
I love the great horse folks up there!
My zip code of 99362 (Walla Walla) would love to host your little darling trailer because I am also dreaming of getting one and becoming a sister on the fly. Walla Walla would be host of many beautiful wineries with award winning wines (ok, not horsey but still fun) and depending on what time of year you travel through there are many horse shows at our fairgrounds. We live on a 300 acre wheat farm along with a few horses so the "neighbors" will be just as happy to see you as we are.
80112 until late March, then 80138. Roughly 1200 miles from Troy, if you go up to Cd'A and through Montana.
My current neighbors would say "OK, EWWWW--What is a TRAILER doing parked in the condo complex? Our association said NO to storing any towed vehicles here! I'm going to the board with this right now..." You know, one of THOSE condo complexes... Still a nice place, though.
My future neighbors are in an equine community. They'd probably say "OH THAT IS TOO COOL!!!" :-)
Total Estimated Time: 28 hours 44 minutes
Total Estimated Distance: 1892.57 miles
What would you see? Well that would depend on how you got here, silly! You could weave all over the daggone place, especially if you stopped to see Mikey along the way!
Neighbors? What are those? Actually I do have some, but none close.
Bring Ed. Mr. Fry likes to drink beer, shoot darts, and they can play with his 1967 SMOKIN' Chevelle.
OMG! Any of my neighbors would probably want to know why I have one and they don't (haha!) Actually, Hubby manages a 10,000 acre working cattle ranch in California, so my neighbors couldn't see my driveway unless they own a helicopter! (95020- so a distance of about 979 miles...)
We'd love to host ya if you wanted to come this way! It's been in the 70's and 80's this week- great weather (and our pool's heated!) The riding around the ranch is terrific (as long as there's no rain...then the ground turns to snot.)
Living where we do, I have always sworn that 'one of these days' I'd start loading up and go ride on the beach or Yosemite, or a zillion other great spots California has to offer- I just haven't done it yet :-(
LOL! It's the cowgirl Hilton ! I love it..I don't think that is much bigger than my Ekalaka pup tent I use for cmaping at rides in... sip is 59912- you can set up camp at my place anytime! About a two day drive? Not much for riding around here though with the ice that has decended upon Acer Farms.
Zip is 38902. Just let me know and I’ll call all the girls to come ride. At my house, not much riding area, but down the rode a little ways, cotton fields, bean fields, flat and hilly land, open areas, tree covered areas - whatever you want. The neighbors still look twice when I go out to feed in my night clothes, but they just shake their heads and wave. My husband has been looking for a camper like yours (has been every since I saw yours last year). He found one but it was in very bad shape. I want it for me to take camping and for my granddaughter to play house in. Would love to have you over.
Well, now that I've invited myself over, I'm real happy to be getting all these zip codes to research and plot out. There's more than one road trip's worth here so far, but just the prospects and descriptions you ladies have sent (so far!) are brightening things up a lot in the Winter Attitude Department. (A bit of a January thaw doesn't hurt, either.)
Thanks!
I'm getting myself a big map that I can use for pinning in locations.
53121- You'd see a lot, but I'm afraid that when you arrived here, there too would be mounds of snow and lots of cold. My neighbors? Well, they probably wouldn't think anything of it as they are used to me standing in the backyard in my pajamas, often with a coat over them screaming at the dogs to go "poo-poo".
zip, 31031. You could visit Mikey, then head east and vist Clinton Anderson, Chris Cox & Craig Cameron, in route. No one here would see your trailer, cause we have 40 acres and can't see our neighbors! You probably wouldn't want to ride my 2 untrained horses, but we could attend AQHA shows, APHA shows, or a reining show. Also, you could tour the Antebellum mansions, and all the other historical stuff in the South, that can't be seen elsewhere. Right now we are having weather in the 50's, with the next 2 nights in the teens. Uncharacteristically cold, but likely to be back up in the next week or so.
Come to Pennsylvania 15853
You can camp here. We don't have many neighbors.
We ride all summer on great trails. We can go from one to seven hours (yes we did that one day) on safe beautiful trails.
99022 No so far. We are still mudded in (if that is a word) snow in piles and ice. Come and park and we could go down to Riverside SP and ride or FishTrap Lake or down to Odessa on BLM land. Lots of places to ride here in eastern WA.
Juli, I'd REALLy like to get in touch with you, but don't have your e-mail anymore. Would you mind e-mailing me at mjbraddock1 at yahoo dot com ? Thanks!
Marci
Rockglen, Saskatchewan, Canada is about 800 miles, approx. 13 hours. You'd get to see the Rockies as you drive through MT or go north through Alberta, then onto the Prairie plains, and down into the hilly prairie's of south central Saskatchewan. Yes there are actually hills here and not just overgrown gopher mounds! The Grasslands National Park is one of a kind that is beautiful to ride through. I would also recommend travelling when the weather turns nicer and the roads are definitely passable.
As for the neighbors, well, they would probably just be curious as to who is visiting us Kirby's!
Have fun on your travels!
99654 - So far I didn't bother with the mileage. I think it took me a week to drive from Kalispell several years ago.
If you time your trip just right you could cover the farthest most north NATRC Competitive Trail Ride in Fairbanks. It's only another 300 miles north of me.
