What Old Show Horses Have in Common with Road Trips
When it comes to doing my job, I'm kind of like a lot of older show horses of my acquaintance.I know my job. I like my job. I'm well suited to it even after all these years. When it's time to do that job, I give it my best on whatever particular day it is. I don't even mind staying in my stall for most of the day, and for most of my days.
But I do have one little quirk:
You gotta turn me out for a few days every now and then, and just leave me to my own devices. Which in my case, often leads to hitting the highway.
Otherwise...well, do you hear that sound of someone kicking the walls? Could be me.
I can't quite get the the cowgirl trailer off our iced-up hilltop at present. But as soon as our private road stops doing its bobsled-run imitation, allowing for ANYTHING to be towed down or up.....I am gone, gone, gone.
Tail up over the back and mane flying!
To where? Well, we'll just have to see.

I HEAR THAT!!
So I expect you to be rolling up a couple weeks, yes? Hookups and horses, here! Stop in at Shiloh on the way?
A Juli Thorsen road trip!! I'm very excited to see/read this!
Do I detect a little cabin fever there?
Road trip! There's always a spot for the cowgirl trailer at Casa Fry!
Ladies, you're starting to catch my drift.
I've been telling the rest of the H&R gang about my notion of taking the cowgirl trailer on a meet-some-of-my-blog-gang road trip. Not sure I've convinced them fully that I should be allowed "out of the show barn" for a bit, but if I kick the walls hard enough.....
Starting zip code is 83871. Send me some destination zip codes, and I'll start a MapQuest file of coordinates.
A southerly exodus looks pretty good right about now, but I won't rule out other directions. (Still in dream-about-it mode, so why limit the options?)
Incidentally, some of my fellow Sisters of the Fly members (see their vintage, cowgirl-themed trailers at sistersonthefly.com) are camping this weekend at Quartzite, AZ. Lucky girls!
Yeah me too! As soon as I can - I am outta here!
Going to Nashville at the end of February so I think that help some - but its for work so I still bet that I will need to hit the road as soon as its safe to do so.
