Tiffany Tries Snow Surfing!
We've had record December snowfall in these parts, and it's made horsekeeping a challenge in some ways.
But it's also made it kinda fun, like when Tiffany finally got to leave the barn and checked out her snow-surfing ability. (How about those drifts out in the field and pasture--they remind me of the ocean!) We've had some interesting snow angels made by horses dropping into the deep snow to roll.
More snow on the way (nearby Spokane, Washington already has 46 inches), so Ed and I spent most of today clearing off roofs that probably shouldn't be asked to hold too much more. Good way to burn off all those Christmas cookies....
Get any good horsey gifts? Do tell.

I got two horse books: "How to Think Like A Horse" by Cherry Hill and "What Your Horse Wants You To Know" by Gincy Self Bucklin. I've gotten so much new tack (including a new Tucker trail saddle) in the last month because of Sergeant's going out of business, I'm pretty much set!
How about you?
What a beautiful picture!
I got a pony!
Glacier was my gift from Hubby AND he paid for two months worth of Senior feed for her too!
We (my daughter and I) are getting a new-to-us show saddle! 3 years old, purchased from Rod's originally, cost $2200 new but we got it for a song because the light suede seat had been stained by cheap black chaps. I contacted the saddle manufacturer and guess what? They will replace the suede seat for $75! Yes, that's not a typo. I have to pay shipping both directions of course, but what a deal. Now to decide what color the new seat should be ... any suggestions? (We have bone colored ultrasuede chaps by Hobby Horse).
Sergeants is going out of business? WTH?
Yep, sad to say, Sergeant's is closing and liquidating everything.
But congratulations on your Christmas pony!
I got a Shop Vac n Blow. Yee haw!
My mare sheds like a shaggy dog.
What is Seargents? Like Stateline?
I got 5 training DVDs by Stacy Westfall (thankx mom and dad!), a great book "Equs" by Tim Flach, and a new trough heater. I recieved an early gift from my hubby before the snow came flying, a new lean to for the horses, painted to match the house.
I got 3 new horsey books - will dig into them this winter. Since I still can't ride and let you know if they are any good.
I got a new saddle from my favorite saddle maker! He's "local" to me about an hour away at www.jjmaxwell.com. I've wanted one of his saddles since I was a little girl and am extatic to finally have one! It is "used" though only ridden in once and that in an arena. The lady, who is also a friend of mine who lives up there in WA, sold it to us for $1,000 of her purchase price! Wahoo! :D Oh and Hubby did the greatest scavenger hunt for me to find it on Christmas day... What a cool thing for him to think of. What a guy! ;)
