My Thoughts from Here

Hello Everyone,
First I must say that in spite of what is being written, Brentina is not LAME! She went into the ring and was terrified by something. I can't even tell you how badly I feel, not only for losing the team medal but also for letting the country down. This was certainly not the way I wanted to end a career. I want to thank everyone who has supported us over the years and my family, who has given up so much to get me here.My teammates Courtney and Steffen, go get them and show them that you deserve to be here.  Klaus, Gil, Rick, everyone that has been associated with this team, and there are way too many to mention, have been amazing. The grooms have been so great together. It has been fun to watch them take care of each other.  It has been very hard on Ruben, it has really hit us both that she will not be going down center line again. We are both so thankful that she will still be with us and the loving and pampering will never change! With the amount of treats that she has been getting, I am sure she thinks she just won the medal! And to all our fans, thank you for your letters. Mary has been so great in making sure that I receive them. Also Kyra, has been working hard at it. I don't know if I will be writing again but please know that we love you all!
Debbie, Ruben and of course the BRICK HOUSE WOMAN, BRENTINA!

Debbie, our thoughts are with you and Brentina. I can't imagine how hard this has been for you. Rest assured that there is nothing but support for you here at home. You are a true human face of dressage and make it feel more accessible to the rest of us. As someone who worked as a groom for Michael Barisone in 1999/2000 I had to smile when I read that he said he wished the nightmare had happened to him instead of you!. With support from teammates like that you'll bounce back in no time! Brentina had nothing to prove anyway. Keep your chin up. Rachel,PA

There is nothing but total admiration for you and that beautiful horse. Just knowing that you truly love Brentina is all that a true horse lover wants to know. I feel so badly for horses that are treated as if they are trash just because an event doesn't turn out the way the owner or rider wanted it to. My daughter is a superb rider in English and Western, and now she can't wait to find a good dressage instructor to help her in those areas. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Debbie, your grace under pressure during your test was an inspiration to me and to others.

You and B are still champions in every sense of the word. Nothing has changed.

Now,let's get you on that cruise !! :)

Debbie, you have absolutely nothing to apologize for. You, alone, know Brentina best and have done nothing but thrill us for so very long. Rest assured you are both very loved, admired, and respected.
May Brentina enjoy her retirement, and may you have no regrets. (((hugs)))

"Team Brentina" is a role model for us all and will retire as the owner of quite a few of our hearts.

Thank you for representing us so beautifully!

I know that I am amazed by you and Bentina! You had a rough test...any one who has ever shown horses has a bad test every now and again. And I hate to even say that it was even a "bad test" because you still got a 63% at the OLYMPICS! There are not many people in the world that can say that. I have seen you and Brentina compete several times before and I am very proud that you were chosen for the Olympic team. Please don't beat yourself up about this! Feel free to direct the people who are saying rude things about you and Brentina my way. If things always turned out the way we think that they will in dressage no one would have to ride at shows anymore. The unknown is part of the game of riding. I would LOVE to put in a test like you and Brentina did at the Olympics someday! I can only dream to be so lucky (and so good). I hope Bentina enjoy's her retirement...I bet she will miss going to shows. She does seem like the type of horse who enjoys attention.

Thank you for the wonderful memories. I've seen you and Brentina perform many times over the years and I can still remember the goose bumps and tears of joy I had at the first World Cup in Vegas watching your freestyle.
I've always said if a genie came up to me and gave me the wish of riding any GP horse in the world I would pick Brentina to fulfill my wish.
Keep your chin up, you and Brentina did the best you could on that day and that's all anyone can ask for. We are proud of you.
Please give Brentina a carrot (or two, or three) and a hug from me and my horse.
Blessings and peace to you.

OH Debbie -there is absolutely NO need for you to apologize! We all still LOVE you and Brentina. I'm glad she is recovering well and that nothing is wrong with her - that's the MOST important part. You guys are still completely wonderful in my mind!

Debbie, the inspiration and example you and Brentina have left for us aspiring dressage riders is amazing. Seeing you ride in San Juan Capistrano brought tears to not only my eyes but everyone around me. You are a team that will not be forgotten, but admired more and more as we look back on your accomplishments. You had the blessing of a once in a lifetime horse, and now we look forward to showing you our appreciation in Las Vegas!

Debbie,

You have been my hero ever since I read your book. I just started riding lessons last year at the age of 38 and decided to train in dressage from your inspiration. I'm sorry this year's Olympics didn't turn out as you had hoped. Your heart and attitude make you such a super star!
